Embrace Your Beautiful Chaos {Lifestyle Photographer, Everett, WA}

Embrace your beautiful chaos. That is what I tell families we're going to do during their photo session. Life is messy, and beautiful, and chaotic and fun. Even in the mundane, the ordinary, there is so much beauty.

I'm putting it out there. I'm a perfectionist, and it's exhausting. I've always liked to have a perfectly clean house, but sometimes, I would just wish I could let it go. And sometimes I did, and then anxiety would get the better of me and I'd start feeling that nagging urge to clean and make everything appear perfect. But you know what? Life isn't perfect. It's not even close. And even though it's not close, life is insanely beautiful.

When I first started in photography, I always aimed for the perfect image. I followed all the rules and would toss a photo if it wasn't up to par. But as I've evolved as a photographer, and as I've added more kids to my family, I've realized that there is so much more to life, and so much more to photos, than perfection. I've realized that an image can have technical mistakes and still be emotional. Life has it's sad moments, but they're still beautiful. And since I discovered this, I feel free. I enjoy photography more and I have never been happier with the art I create.

I believe there is beauty in the chaos. I believe that an image doesn't have to be technically perfect to evoke emotion. I believe that we should celebrate all the little nuances. Let's capture the honest moments. The mellow moments. The messy moments. Let's do away with perfection and focus on the authenticity. Because that authenticity is beautiful and deserves to be celebrated. Celebrate unmade beds, and harsh light. Embrace messy hair and movement. Let's focus on the emotion and authenticity of your family and forget about fake smiles and awkward posing.

If you're ready to have your family's story captured, let's chat. I would be honored to be a part of it.
