What if Baby Won't Sleep During My Newborn Session?

As a Seattle-based newborn photographer, I often get asked, "What if baby won't sleep during the session?" It's a common concern, but with my lifestyle approach to newborn photography, it really doesn't matter!

The Lifestyle Approach

My approach to newborn photography is all about capturing natural, authentic moments. That means we don't need to rely on a sleeping baby to get beautiful images. We'll focus on capturing the beauty of you and your baby, awake or asleep.

Baby's Mood, No Problem

Since we're not trying to get baby into awkward poses, it really doesn't matter if they're awake or asleep. We'll simply follow baby's lead and capture the moments as they unfold. Whether baby is cooing, snuggling, or simply observing the world, we'll get some beautiful images.

Most Newborns Will Eventually Fall Asleep

Let's be real, most newborns will fall asleep eventually during a photo session – it's just what they do! But even if baby stays awake, we'll still get some amazing images. And if you're really set on sleepy baby photos, scheduling your session within the first two weeks of birth increases the chances of getting those sweet, snoozy shots.

The Goal: Beautiful Images, No Matter What

At the end of the day, my goal is to capture the beauty and love of your new family, no matter what. So don't stress if baby won't sleep – we'll work with what we have and create some truly special images.
