Is it Safe to Pose a Newborn for Photos?

As a Seattle-based newborn photographer, I understand that safety is top of mind when it comes to your precious little one. So, let's talk about posing newborns for photos.

Lifestyle Newborn Sessions: Baby-Led and Safe

With my lifestyle newborn sessions, babies aren't really "posed" in the classical sense. Instead, we capture natural, authentic moments with you and your baby. Most often, baby will be snuggled up in your arms, eliminating any danger of them being placed in an unsafe position.

Safety Always Comes First

As a newborn photographer, my top priority is your baby's safety and comfort. While we may gently move an arm or adjust their head slightly, everything is done with baby's safety and well-being in mind. I'll always work with you to ensure that baby is secure and comfortable throughout the session.

What to Expect

During our session, we'll focus on capturing the love and connection between you and your baby. I'll guide you through gentle movements and poses that feel natural and comfortable for both you and baby. No acrobatics or unsafe positions – just beautiful, authentic moments.

Your Peace of Mind

I want you to feel confident and relaxed during our session, knowing that your baby is safe and happy. If at any point you feel uncomfortable or concerned, we'll stop and adjust as needed.

Can Siblings Be Included in Newborn Photos?

As a lifestyle newborn photographer, I'm often asked if siblings can be included in the photos. The answer is a resounding YES!

Siblings and Fur Babies Welcome

At my lifestyle newborn sessions, we celebrate the whole family – including siblings and even fur babies! I believe that the addition of a new baby is a big change for the whole family, and I love capturing the excitement and love that comes with it.

Capturing Sibling Love

Including siblings in the photos is a great way to capture the special bond between them and the new baby. We'll take it slow, have fun, and make sure everyone is comfortable and happy. Whether it's snuggling, playing, or just being together, we'll capture the love and joy that fills the room.

Tips for Sibling Involvement

To make the most of your session, here are a few tips:

- Make sure siblings are well-rested and fed before the session

- Have their favorite toys or comfort items on hand to help them feel more at ease

- Encourage them to interact with the baby – it's okay if it's just a gentle touch or a sweet smile!

- Don't worry if they get a little restless – we'll work with them to get some great shots

Let's Celebrate Your Family

At the end of the day, my goal is to capture the love and connection of your family. I can't wait to meet you and celebrate the new addition to your crew!

How Long Does a Newborn Session Take?

As a lifestyle newborn photographer, I'm often asked, "How long will our session take?" The answer is, it depends!

Session Length

A typical newborn session can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. However, I always recommend allowing up to two hours for the entire experience.

Why Sessions Can Vary in Length

Newborn sessions are all about flexibility, and there are many factors that can influence the length of our time together. These include:

- Feeding time: Whether it's breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, or just a snack for the older kids, we'll take the time needed to get baby fed and happy.

- Diaper changes: Let's face it, newborns can get messy! We'll take breaks for diaper changes as needed.

- Baby's mood: Sometimes, baby just needs a break. We'll take a few minutes to cuddle, rock, and soothe, and then get back to capturing those sweet moments.

Baby's Needs Come First

I want to reassure you that I will never rush you or your baby. Your baby's needs are my top priority, and we'll take as many breaks as needed to ensure everyone is comfortable and happy.

Relax, We'll Take Our Time

My goal is to create a relaxed, enjoyable experience for you and your new baby. We'll work at a pace that feels natural and comfortable for everyone, and I'll be there to guide you every step of the way.
